Very nice Cloud Kicker. I especially like the wings.

Thank you very much!

Sorry it took so long to respond, I just didn't really know what to say until now. I'm a pretty big fan of the Winning-verse over on FiMFiction and I'm really flattered that you came by! (Fanboytime :la: ) Thank you for the comment and for sharing your writing with us all! :squee:

I think I like this drawing. It's something I don't see so often - I mean, there are a lot of people drawing that way, but I rarely see so soft and smooth lines, giving a feeling of cast shadows (like on the wings). There is also one thing I particularly like - her wings; you can imagine the feel of their fuzz. I think I will try something like that if I ever draw wings again :).

First of all, thank you! I've been holding off replying to you for a while, because I wanted a more complete list of things I usually look at when I think of wings. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find one I was looking at when I did this. But when I think wings, I think of art like:

( inuhoshi-to-darkpen.deviantart… ) - I HERD U WANTED FUZZY WINGS. A largely different style, but lots of depth and detail.

( kp-shadowsquirrel.deviantart.c… ) - Especially in the sketches section.

( ) - Has a bit of a more lined style, particularly in the outer feathers, but the inner feathers are often fuzzy.

( ) - Might have to dig a little, but she does some good fluffy wings, both more realistic and show style. Her style is really loose and energetic!
(… ) - Oooh, found one good reference right there.

There's more I'm sure, but I didn't want to leave without some sort of reference drop. Also never forget to look at photos (and videos!) of real birds too. Can't go wrong with adapting a style by looking at life!

Thanks again, and I hope you're doing well! :D

Sometimes drawing something well requires seeing a good example or a tutorial and "clicking" it with your own style and abilities. Recently, before I start drawing something, I look for some references even for things I know how to do. You can always learn something new.

The problem with following the nature is...well...the communication between your eyes and your hands =D.

Thanks for those links! I already know some of those artists, but not every of them. Their drawings may be useful one day :).

Also, believe me or not, while drawing my most recent work (about birds), I've been thinking about the way you draw wings. Not directly, but it was something like "oh, I remember I wanted to make more fuzz on the wings". The influence may not be so visible, but I tried :P.

Oh certainly. I hit brick walls all the time trying to adapt cool looking things to my own style. :p Ponies are a funny thing to me because I'm used to there being more lines to lean on. In other words, if you drawing a person, there's generally details everywhere. From their face, their clothing, to their pose, the hair, etc etc. With multi-color equines it's different because those details aren't there and for me, I fight the urge to add them everywhere. But don't sweat it! Drawing from nature/reality is all about picking lines, contours and details. And then figuring out what works and what doesn't. Well, really, the whole artistic journey is a lot of that last part... :D

And I do see what you were doing there. That's fairly similar to how bird wings mat together, so I think you were on the right track!

Super cute, I really like how you've done the wings. :)

Thank you! It's been a while since I drew a pegasus and I forgot how time consuming the wings can be. XD I'm not 100% sold on this wing style, but a lot of it works pretty well! Thanks again! :D
